- Okay, first things first. My new haircut.
No, this is not the "scary hair" picture that SciFiDad requested. In case you can't tell, this is my hair on a good day. Wish I could say the same for my expression because obviously I haven't yet learned to smile properly in pictures; I've either got a cheesy situation going on or I'm doing this smirking thing. And that's why I stay behind the camera. (My makeup was cute, though, right? I mean, I even put on lipgloss for this picture! That's an accomplishment!)
- And Bear's new haircut from this past weekend.
What makes this so surprising is we thought she'd decided to grow her hair long, like Hannah Montana's. That's what she'd been telling us over and over, anyway. So when she climbed into the hairdresser's chair and I asked her if she just wanted a trim - like we'd planned - she told me that she wanted it cut up to her chin instead. Which is fine with me, because it's much easier to take care of when it's shorter. Plus it's really cute!
- Tony was given yesterday (Monday) off from work. Unofficially it was to watch the Super Bowl, which didn't begin until 8:30am here. Officially it was to reward the Soldiers in his unit for having 100 consecutive days without a DUI conviction. Either way, I told him he'll probably never find another job that gives people time off of work for either watching TV or obeying the law. I guess that's one of the positive tradeoffs for the long hours and stress levels he acquires by being in his windowless office for 55 hours a week.
- The sun finally came out today! Last week it rained pretty much every day and was close to being downright miserable. So when I put on my turtleneck sweater to go out today for a conference training session I discovered it was almost too warm for even a light sweater. I'm going to miss Okinawa winters when we leave here.
- And because it's still fresh in my mind, my Facebook status update from yesterday:
Tony said to me tonight: "I expect dinner to be on the table when I get home from bringing Brenna to karate practice. You better get moving." I said: "I was in the kitchen ALL DAY yesterday. Doesn't that count?" Tony: "That was a good effort. But today's my day off." Me: "So when's my 'day off'?" Tony: "Every day."... He's going the right way for a smart bottom, that one.
I knew that was the right place to put that, because I had 13 comments almost immediately. Strangely enough, all from other moms and wives...
